Oklahoma Tobacco Helpline Doubles FREE Nicotine Replacement Therapy Support

Starting July 1, Oklahomans Can Access Four Weeks of Patches, Gum or Lozenges

OKLAHOMA CITY (June 30, 2025) — The Oklahoma Tobacco Helpline, a program of the Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET), is increasing its support for Oklahomans who are thinking about quitting tobacco. Beginning July 1, the Helpline will offer four weeks of FREE nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) — including patches, gum or lozenges — to all registrants, doubling the previous offer.

In addition to NRT, the Helpline provides personalized support from trained Coaches, as well as text, email, phone and web-based tools designed to help each participant build a Quit Plan that works for them.

“Providing four weeks of NRT gives people more time and support to build momentum,” said Julie Bisbee, TSET executive director. “This enhanced benefit supports our mission to improve the health of Oklahomans by reducing tobacco use and increasing access to proven, effective resources.”

Research shows using NRT for four weeks or more increases the likelihood of quitting successfully. The Helpline’s expanded offer makes that opportunity more accessible to thousands of Oklahomans.

Tobacco use remains a leading cause of preventable death and disease in Oklahoma. Quitting, even after years of smoking, can improve lung and heart health and reduce the risk of conditions like stroke, diabetes and cancer. It also helps protect loved ones from secondhand smoke.
