I began smoking around 19 years old. At the time, I had just broken up with my long-term boyfriend, and met a guy who I went on a few dates with. He was a smoker. I was a curious “Sure, I’ll try it!” teen. Dating turned into a relationship and the next thing I knew, I was buying a pack of cigarettes a day (sometimes two if I went out with friends). Fast forward two years later, I was still smoking, and I headed to Edmond, OK (I’m from Sacramento, CA). Being apart from my friends and immediate family made me realize that I needed to make them proud. I decided that my “quit day” would be the end of April (Officially April 27th). With the support of my parents, friends and coworkers, I am almost one month smokefree, and I feel great! Surround yourself with positive individuals, and difficult tasks can be easier than expected!
